A loan of $400 helped purchase fruit, such as banans by the thousands and watermelon by the kilo.

Lidia Felisa's story

Lidia is a member of the United Friendship Community Bank. She is a 41-year-old married mother of four, ages 20, 18, 16 and 10. The eldest works and the youngest three attend a state school. Lidia started bringing grapes from Cañete, Peru, to sell out of her home five years ago. Every time she brought more back, and currently sells fruit from her home that she buys wholesale. Lidia is requesting a loan of 1,2000 soles for the purchase of fruit, buying bananas by the thousands and watermelon by the kilo. Since she started working with Kiva partner Finca, she has learned to invest in her business and to be responsible with her loans, and she made many friends in the community bank. Lidia's dream is to grow her business and purchase a van for her business.
