A loan of $650 helped fertilizer.

Martha's story

Martha is 32 years old and lives with her common law husband and their 4 children. Thanks to the efforts and hard work of both her and her husband they now have a home of their own. They work together, cultivating potatoes and beans on rented farmland. Once the harvest is over, her husband leaves to work as a laborer in the jungle and she stays in their community to care for the fields, to make sure the crops develop normally. She watches any plagues or problems with the crops that could affect their harvest and if she sees anything, she contacts her husband to fumigate to counteract the problem. Martha is very happy with her crops. She is waiting for her oldest son to be old enough to care for the other children so she can dedicate her time to her agricultural work and not have to wait on her husband. This season they want to increase their harvest, because last season they had good earnings. This is Martha’s 8th loan with MFP and in this time she has always been punctual with her payments. She believes she has a moral obligation to not miss any payments, since she is committed to this creditor. The money she is asking for will be used to buy chemical and organic fertilizers for her crops.
