A loan of $500 helped repairs to the rooms that she rents out.

Sonia's story

Sonia is a woman who wants to get ahead in life, and at 45 years old is the mother of two children: 24 year old Katherine and Anthony, who is 14. She takes care of them with a lot of love and dedication, and she lives in her own house, independently, and wants to give her children a good education. She rents rooms to people who want a safe and secure place to stay, and she is the owner of a very happy home. She likes this business because she really enjoys chatting with her tenants. She has been doing this for six years, and the toughest part of her work is dealing with tenants who don't want to pay the rent. She knows that she has to motivate herself and make a strong effort to keep moving forward, because she wants to give her children a good life and an adequate education. Additionally, in the near future, she would like to have a little grocery store where she could sell a variety of products to her neighbors and in this way increase her income.

This will be Sonia's third loan with MPF, and she is very punctual with her payments, because she always saves in order to make them on time. She is a very active member of her communal bank and she is always concerned with the wellbeing of the rest of the group. Sonia will invest the 1500 soles in fixing up rooms to rent in order to increase the rental rate of her rooms.
