A loan of $325 helped to buy materials for her sewing business.

Maria's story

Maria is 39 and lives with her husband and two children in her own house, which she worked to buy. She sews for a living, which she learned from her mother, and now she is a great seamstress, and there isn't a garment she can't make. She's been doing this continuously for 18 years in her house, which she uses as her shop.

What she likes about her work is that she gets to interact with lots of different clients. It's also profitable because she can sell the clothes she makes to different places in her area. In addition, she has loyal clientele who trust her good work and seek her out all the time, and demand has been high because the school year is starting and she needs to make uniforms for the students.

In the future Maria would like to have a clothing store. This will be her eighth loan with MFP. She plans to use the money to buy textiles so she can make more clothing to sell.
