Akosua B. is 33 years old, married and blessed with two kids. Currently, one is in school. She is a fish monger who sells in a shed in the local market square. She procures her goods at wholesale prices and has been in business for ten years. According to Akosua, most of her customers are food vendors and households in her community.
She lives with one of her children in a house in Anyinem, a farming community in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Akosua believes the loan would enable her to buy tilapia and assorted fishes in bulk to serve a larger market and eventually improve her family finances. She is a member of a Trust Bank group called Patience Trust Group. Members guarantee one another as social collateral to access and repay loans.
