A loan of $5,000 helped a member increase capital and buy bakiing flour and cooking oil.

Waridi Group's story

Zaina M., age 59, is married with two children ages 29 and 25. She has two grandsons. Zaina sells clothes from door to door and also supplies small hotels. She started her businesses in 1997 and works daily from 9am until 5pm. Zaina is able to earn a monthly profit of around $167.

Zaina will share this loan with her group, Waridi which totals 20 members. Members of the group hold each other accountable for repaying their loans. In the picture, Zaina is second from left, front row.

This will be Zaina’s third loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to increase capital, built three frames for renting and bought 50kg of baking flour. Zaina has repaid the loans successfully. She now hopes for another loan to increase capital by buying baking flour and cooking oil.
