Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $375 helped buy Merchandise.

Maria De Jesus's story

Maria de Jesus is an older woman and she can not get a job at a company because of her age. She wants to be useful and help her family with the household expenses. So she decided to start her own business at home. She sells cosmetics and she started her business in 1995. From that time on she has done very well. Every 15 days she does demonstrations of her products and this has helped her to get more customers and to sell more. She is a direct distributor for the company that she sells cosmetics for. Maria de Jesus needs a loan of $375 which she will repay in 12 payments that she will make twice a month. She will use the money to buy more merchandise and to have a better selection to fill the orders of her customers.
