A loan of $175 helped to acquire more sheep, fatten them, and sell them.

Juliana's story

Juliana is a member of the Communal Bank “Urbano Central” [“Central Urban”], of the community of Taccapissi, Quellamaya sector, in the district of Copani, province of Yunguyo, department of Puno. She is 61 years old, married, and has 5 older children. Juliana has worked with the Manuela Ramos Movement for the past year. She dedicates herself to the purchase and sale of small livestock for fattening (sheep and pigs). Her first loan was of 300 PEN, an amount that she invested in the purchase of food to fatten her livestock (fodder and feed); she then sold the livestock at the Yunguyo Market. She wishes to continue in this business and requires an additional loan of 500 PEN, which she pledges to pay in 4 quotas. With the money she will be able to acquire more sheep (for meat) to be able to fatten and sell in the markets in Yunguyo. Her wish is to help herself and to be able to enjoy her old age, given that her children live far from her and have their own families.
