Marilu's story

Marilu belongs to the "Dedicated Women" Community Bank. She lives in the district of Tarapoto, department of San Martín, Peru. She is a 32-year-old mother of three (all of whom are still dependent on her) and lives with her partner. She started with 10,000 soles and, motivated by her partner, set up her business selling spare parts for motorcycles in a central part of the city. Currently, she continues the work and has a store to tend to her clientele. With the loan of 2,000 soles, which she plans to repay in six months, she will invest in the purchase of system of trailer attachments, lubricants, oils, bearings and spark plugs. Part of the money will also be used to expand the business and later establish a repair shop. Today she feels secure in offering products and at the same time more constant and responsible with her payments. Marilu gives her thanks to Kiva partner Manuela Ramos for allowing her to grow as a businesswoman and a person.
