A loan helped to pay for one ox and forage for feeding the livestock.

Vardanush's story

Vardanush lives in Hermon village of the Vayots Dzor region with her grownup son and daughter.

Like local people living in that rural region, Vardanush also raises livestock. She started in the livestock business after she got married, so that she could help her husband take care of the family. After her husband went for migrant work, Vardanush was left alone with the livestock and household work. Due to her hard work, she perfectly manages to keep livestock of two cows, four calves, 20 hens and 15 colonies of bees.

Vardanush gets milk, prepares different dairy products and sells them in local markets. The loan will help her greatly to purchase one ox and forage for feeding the livestock to enlarge her livestock and sustain it. As this is Vardanush's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative of Kiva and SEF. The first-chance-loan program provides loans to people who haven’t had access to credit products before because they have no credit history.
