Cholpon's story

Cholpon is 51 years old and married. She and her husband have raised four children (two daughters and two sons); they are independent and live separately. Cholpon has a secondary education. She has been farming for 26 years. Her father-in-law gave her a cow with calf and ten sheep as starting capital. Cholpon and her husband have been able to develop their business. Today they have six cows and 13 sheep. They have their own garden where Cholpon grows vegetables and fruits for their own consumption. Her monthly income is 22,000 som (KGS). In order to develop her business further, Cholpon has applied to Bai Tushum Bank for a loan of 140,000 som (KGS) to increase the size of her herd by buying some calves. Cholpon plans to invest the proceeds of the loan in growing her business further and improving her family's living conditions.
