Rosemary Janet Awuor's story

Rosemary Janet Awuor is a 32-year-old mother of three children aged 16, 7 and 3. The older two are in school and she is raising them by herself. She runs a small fish shop where she sells Omena fish. She purchases her stock from fisherman at Lake Victoria. She says that transporting her goods can be a challenge.

Rosemary recently joined the K-MET volunteer Community Health Worker (CHW) group in Kisumu, Kenya. As a CHW she will be trained by K-MET and will begin visiting members of her community who are sick with a variety of illness. Her work will include distributing Nutriflour (a vitamin enriched flour produced by K-MET) to malnourished patients, providing reproductive health education, referring patients to local clinics and hospitals, and providing basic health care.
