A loan of $125 helped purchase fish for resale.

Mary Aoko's story

Mary Aoko O. is a 32 year old mother of two children, ages 6 and 4.5. Her husband works as an auto mechanic while Mary sells small fish called Omena. She started her business a long time ago and will use the loan to purchase more fish. One challenge she has faced lately is extending credit to customers who do not pay her back.

Mary recently joined the K-MET volunteer Community Health Worker (CHW) group in Kisumu, Kenya. As a community health worker, she will be trained by K-MET and will then begin visiting members of her community who are sick with a variety of illnesses. Her volunteer work will include distributing Nutriflour (vitamin-enriched flour) to malnourished patients, providing reproductive health education, referring patients to local clinics and hospitals, and providing basic health care.
