A loan of $900 helped to buy electronic equipment and supplies.

Paul's story

Born in 1973 in Porto-Novo, Mr. M. Paul resides in the 3rd district of the city of Porto-Novo, the administrative and political capital of Bénin. He is the father of three children, who are all in school. Paul is an electronics technician, which has become his principal work. This business of his brings in the revenues that help him to earn a living. Electronics being a business requiring significant means, he lacks enough funds for allowing him to satisfy the large number of customers and for earning enough to meet his various responsibilities. Thus, to make his workshop successful, he's requesting a loan.

Alidé means “there is always a path for the poorest” in Benin’s local language of Fon. Benin is a small West African country located next to Nigeria and has a per capita GDP of $1,500. Alidé offers special loans to highly vulnerable people at an interest rate of 0%. It is part of a group that is soon launching a micro health insurance program for recipients of micro-loans.
