A loan of $175 helped to buy more food items (rice, cooking oil, etc.) for her business.

Zainab's story

Zainab has owned a small food vendor store in the Ilala neighborhood of Dodoma for 10 years. She belongs to Kondoa group loan. She currently earns an average monthly profit of $250. Every day she works for 9 hours at her business.

She is requesting her first loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Tanzania so that she can buy more food items (rice, cooking oil, etc.) for her business. She is hoping that through this loan, her profit will increase and she will be able to grow her business, to get more food for her family, to save money for future use and to pay school fees for her children.

Zainab is 36 years old, married, and has three children: ages 15, 12 and 8. She also cares for one additional dependent.
