Lusgarda's story

Mrs. Lusgarda T. P. is a member of the community bank Santa Barbara. She lives at Jr. Cuzco Number 396 in the Tarapoto district in the department of San Martín. She is 34 years old, married, and the mother of two dependent children. With the first loan of 300.00 soles, and motivated by a friend, she began selling fruits in the Tarapoto market. She has been working with the bank for 1 year. Now she sells prepared meals, such as grilled kabobs and “juanes” (a traditional dish). Her business is located at Jr. Cuzco number 396. She sells to customers, neighbors and residents of the community. With this loan for 1,300.00 soles, which will be repaid in 4 months, she will build up her business. She will buy tables, chairs, glasses and pots. This will make her customers more comfortable, and allow her to provide better service. Personally, she wishes to expand her business. She now feels more responsible about making her payments and making her own decisions. Lusgarda is grateful to Manuela Ramos for allowing her to grow as a business person and as a woman.
