A loan helped a member to buy organic fertilizer and pay labor fees to increase crop yield so that she can increase profits to save for future need.

Sithul's Group's story

Sithul lives in Kampong Cham province. She is 44 years old and a married mother of three dependent children.

Rice farming is the primary source of her income. Meanwhile, she can earn supplemental income by working for a labor fee. She has been involved in her business for 26 years. Insect pests have destroyed her crop, so she is getting a lower yield than the previous year. Her daily income is around 11 USD per day to support her family’s living.

This is her third cycle with VisionFund. With the past loans, her family’s living standard has improved.

Due to a lack of working capital, she is now leading a group of four to get a new Kiva loan. This new loan will be used to buy organic fertilizer and pay for labor fees to increase crop yield. She hopes to get a higher yield so that she can increase profits to save for future need.

In this group: Sithul, Ni, Phally, Chanthim
