A loan of $2,325 helped covering the cost of planting the fall crop.

Iurie's story

Iurie T. is a 31-year-old married man raising three children, one boy and two girls. He has traveled widely and worked abroad for several years, where he earned a good income. But his desire to be with his family led him to return to Moldova, where he now hopes to be able to make ends meet by working hard on his farm.

Iurie knows agriculture very well, having grown up in a family of farmers. On his land today, he grows wheat, corn, rye, and peas, all of which he sells at a local market. He also has a small vineyard in which he grows Moldova grapes, which are very popular in this part of the world.

Iurie has come to us for a loan to cover the cost of planting the fall crop and ground cover for the winter. Poor weather and other problems made 2008 a difficult year, but Iurie hopes that with careful planning he will do better in 2009.
