A loan helped a member to increase the range of detergents she makes.

Kugarika Group's story

Magadeline, age 45, is a member of the Kugarika Group, a Shona name which translates to “good living.” She is a married mother of two. Magadaline joined the Kugarika Group which aims to encourage each other through the sharing of ideas and to receive financial support by engaging in ROSCAs (rotating savings and credit associations). She realized that she made a wise choice in joining the group which consists of hard-working ladies. They are always looking for new ways to support their families regardless of hardships they face. The group has completed two loans with Thrive and managed to repay both of them.

After forming, the group started attending training offered by Thrive which they have enjoyed and benefited from lot. Magadeline herself has presented a proposed brand name for her products as she felt the need for improving marketing strategies after she completed marketing training. Magadaline is in the business of making detergents. She then sells her product to grocery shops in town, garages, canteens and households in her neighborhood. Her wish is to increase her customer base and with a Kiva loan, she can achieve her dream of having her detergent company.

In this group: Sarah, Magadeline, Letwin, Tsitsi, Farai
