A loan helped a member to fund the installation of toilets in their homes.

Jlg-004-Karupathur Group's story

Malarkodi lives in Kulithalai in the rural part of Karur, Tamil Nadu. She is 35 years old and a mother of 1 child. She works as a daily wage labourer in addition to managing the household chores. She does not have a toilet in her house. Malarkodi and her family are forced to defecate in the open.

Malarkodi has formed a self-help group with her friends in Kulithalai. All 3 group members work hard to support their families, and save diligently. However, their finances are not adequate for them to access basic necessities like toilets in their homes. They have to trek long distances at dawn to use the fields to relieve themselves. This puts them at risk of infection, molestation or attack, and insect or animal bites.

They now seek a loan of Rs. 42000 to build toilets in their homes. Your loan will help their families access basic sanitation, improved health, and safety.
