A loan of $625 helped purchase of sugar, firewood, disposable utensils, and bags.

Maria Jesus's story

Maria is a member of the community bank, Las Hormigas ('The Ants').

She is 43-years old, married, and has three children. Maria and her husband prepare butter beans, peas, chickpeas, tripe, beef shank, and natural gelatin made from hooves. They sell these dishes from home when there are customer orders, and also sell from a handcart.

Maria needs a loan of 2,000 PEN to invest in the purchase of sugar, firewood, disposable utensils, and bags. She dreams of running her business from a permanent location, and seeing her children become professionals.
