Fatma's story

For 3 years, Fatma has been selling bites (maandazi, chapati, and breads) in the Milinne neighborhood in Zanzibar. Fatma is 46 years old, divorced, and has two children: ages 25 and 18. She is a member of the Asaa Khery loan group. She currently earns an average monthly profit of $40. Every day she works at her business from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.


She is requesting her second loan from BRAC Tanzania so that she can buy more flour and cooking oil for her business. She is hoping that through this loan, her profit will increase and she will be able to increase her business.
