Tamuka Group's story

Meet Tamuka group from Chitungwiza. Tamuka is a vernacular word which refers to a group of people who are wide awake. This group is based in Chitungwiza and has a number of tailors and one sole trader. In this group we have Junior, a lady who operates a tuckshop in Unit A. The tuckshop has various groceries. She started the business after she was given a small amount by her husband, another clear sign of how most women act more responsibly when it comes to money matters (especially in poorer communities).

The shop is not fully stocked; she has a lot of empty shelves which needs stock but the potential that she sits on cannot be masked. As a business lady she had challenges of some breakages, which are always costly to her business, usually caused by too frequent restocking days.

She hopes the loan from Thrive will help her to fully restock her tuckshop with groceries rather than restocking on a daily basis with small amounts, a very costly situation.

In this group: Neti, Junior, Makanyara, Sukoluhle
