Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Martha Lorena's story

Martha Lorena is married, she is 48 years old and bought a house at Residencial Bosque in Juigalpan that she wants to improve. She wants to add to her kitchen, build a pantry and build a ceramic tile floor. She is currently living at a sister's house where she lacks privacy. Her husband works in USA and is trying to get his retirement to move to his house in Juigalpan, where he expects to retire with his wife and kids, one is eight years old and this daughter studies high school in USA. Once the house is on good conditions he will move to Nicaragua to fulfill his dream living with his wife and children. Ms. Martha Lorena will keep on improving her house once his husband is in Nicaragua, because right now is difficult to spend on family expenses in both places.
