Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Flor Del Carmen's story

Flor del Carmen U. S. lives in Lourdes in the west part of El Salvador. She's married and she's 42 years old. She lives with her husband and son. Flor is a hard-working woman and a pillar of strength to her family.

About 8 years ago, Flor decided to open up a small store which she runs out of her own home so that she could help her husband pay the monthly bills. Now, that same store is growing and growing due to the enterprising spirit and amiability Flor demonstrates to all her clients. She's also selling school supplies such as notebooks and pens. She tries to stock-up her store with all the products that her clients demand.

Flor is requesting a loan to purchase more merchandise for her store since she would like to keep growing and to keep offering the best products to her clients.
