Elizabeth's story

Elizabeth is a partner of the Bancomunal Unidas Triunfaremos (We Will Prevail United Communal Bank). Elizabeth is in a co-op. She is 37 years old, and has three children ages 21, 16 and 4 years old. The younger ones are in a state school. Elizabeth’s husband is a cook, and a year ago both of them decided to open a restaurant business of spicy foods called “El Erizo.” They open their business starting at six in the afternoon. In the morning they both work in different offices. Elizabeth does public cleaning for the city. She needs a loan of 1000 soles, to buy staples of rice, noodles, potatoes and meat. Since she’s been on the Co-Op, she receives support and consultations that teach her about running her business. Elizabeth’s dream is to be able to transfer her business to another site, because it’s still very small where she is presently.
