A loan of $4,675 helped a member to buy merchandise.

Semilla Group's story

The Semilla Association belongs to the main center of Los Andes, located in the Villa Tunara zone of the city of El Alto. They have worked alongside Pro-Mujer for the past eight years, approximately. The majority of these women are married and they have an average of five children apiece. In some cases their partners abandoned them and they have had to work alone to care for their families. For this reason they needed to look for their own activities that would allow them to generate resources for the good of their families.

The Semilla Association has diverse activities. They sell clothing, cheese, vegetables, fruit, and shoes. Others sell sweaters and hand-woven mantillas (veils). All the members want to improve their businesses so they are asking for a loan to buy merchandise and raw materials, depending on their business. They are sure their sales will increase and they will earn enough to solve their families' problems.
