A loan of $500 helped working capital.

Maria Mercedes's story

María Mercedes B. is 40 years old and married, with two children. Both of her children attend school. María sells clothing for women and men, which she has done for seven years. She began selling clothes because she wanted to help out with household expenses and already had a job, but needed additional income for her family. María's plans for her business include moving to a location which is more convenient for her clients. She is requesting a loan for the purchase of additional new and higher-quality products. She would like to keep her business going, seeing it is the means by which she has managed to take care of her needs. The loan amount requested is 10,000 córdobas [about US $500], which María will pay back in 12 months.
