Margaret's story

Margaret L., age 31, is married with no children but she is living with her sister’s daughters, ages 16 and 14. She sells charcoal and fried fish. She started these businesses 5 years ago and works daily from 8am until 9pm. She is able to earn a monthly profit of around US$ 369.

This will be Margaret’s second loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to start up the fish business and has repaid the loan successfully. She now hopes for a second loan to expand her charcoal business and to buy a big bucket of cooking oil for frying fish.

Margaret belongs to Songa group. The members of her group hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
