The members of the BENKADI group are all married women. They are on average 20 years old and have 2 children. They live in traditional nuclear families with their brothers, sisters, children, and husbands. With the aim of developing their business, they joined the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso, and are now seeking their fifth group loan. None of their previous loans had any problems being repaid.
This loan will be used to buy 1 tonne of maize, 600 kg of sorghum, and 450 kg of pearl millet from the farmers in the village of Werekela and the surrounding areas; these goods will be re-sold in the market in Fana at wholesale in cash. Their clientele is composed mainly of men.
With this loan, they intend to generate a profit of 10,000 FCFA, which will be used to take care of and pay for the education of their children.
