Christiana's story

Christiana G. is fifty-four years old. She is a married woman and has given birth to six children; three boys and three girls. She says the last two of her children still in school (junior high). The rest are out of school and are working. Christiana’s husband is a trader. He trades in cement, lorry tires and other hardware. She lives with the family in a family house in Berekum in the Brong Ahafo region. Berekum is a busy business centre which is about twenty-five minutes drive from Sunyani, the regional capital.

Christiana trades in provisions and many other products such as soap, etc. to make some income to support her husband financially. She procures the goods from distributors in Techiman where prices are quite economical. Christiana does not sell in a store house but treks to sell her products. She has been in business for eight years. Christiana wants a loan to increase her working capital so she can procure more goods. She hopes to help her husband improve upon their standard of living and give their last two children the best of education they can afford.
