A loan helped to purchase study materials and pay the fees for her daughter’s education.

Dulali's story

Dulali is 40 years old. She lives in Falakata, Alipurduar district of West Bengal. Her family consists of her husband and two daughters. Dulali is a homemaker and her husband is associated with a clothing business. He sells varieties of clothing to his neighbors, relatives and friends but the income is barely enough to cover the household expenses along with the children’s education cost because he is the only source of income.

Dulali’s 16-year-old daughter Piya is a student of grade 11 in Falakata Subhash Girls’ High School in Arts. She is an average student and has obtained passing marks in the secondary Board examination. Now she needs good private coaching for her grade 11 education. As it is difficult for Dulali to manage all the school fees and the cost of books for her daughter, she is requesting a loan from BJS ( Kiva's partner) to continue her daughter’s education further.

She will pay Piya’s school fees and private tuition fees and purchase books, uniforms and other necessary study materials for her with the loan money. The loan will help Dulali to support her daughter for her further education without any financial constraints.

Dulali and Piya (as in the photo) convey their gratitude to BJS and Kiva.
