A loan helped to cover her daughter's educational expenses in grade 11.

Parul's story

Parul, 38 years old, lives in a small village of Falakata in West Bengal. She is a careful mother of two children (one son and one daughter). She is a widow, who unfortunately lost her husband a few years ago. But she has a great determination to provide her children a good education. Thus she works hard to provide every support to her children. Parul runs a clothing business to earn a living for her family. Her son is a student of grade 5.

Parul’s daughter, 16-year-old Anamika, is studying in grade 11 in Khirerkote High School, a local school in Falakata. She has chosen the Arts stream. She is serious about her studies and tries hard to score good marks in her final Board examination. Parul faces difficulties to cover the education expenses of her two children after meeting the household costs with her sole income, yet she is striving to provide uninterrupted education to her children.

Hence, as a responsible mother, Parul is requesting a loan from Kiva’s partner BJS to bear the educational expenses of her daughter. She plans to pay educational fees, buy study materials, and a bicycle for her daughter, so that she can easily go to school, saving time and conveyance cost. The loan will help this bright young girl continue her education without any obstacles.

Parul and Anamika (in the photo) are grateful to BJS and Kiva.
