Kevin is 35 years old and married with four children. She rents a four-room house, where she stays with her family. She also takes care of additional family members. Kevin has three meals a day and her greatest expense in a month is feeding the family and paying rent.

She sells food stuff in the market, where she must pay market dues. She works seven days a week and she normally receives about 20 customers a day. The main challenge she finds while carrying out her business is the rainy season. She uses an umbrella during the rains, but still the number of her customers and her subsequent income is much reduced throughout the season.

Kevin has worked with MCDT for three years now and she has so far received eight loans. She wants to use this loan to increase her stock. She also looks forward to expanding her business to improve her income.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
