A loan helped a member to buy a larger volume of shea nuts for processing to meet an order by a local marketer.

Kpangmanga - Zoggu Group's story

Abibata is a 45-year-old mother of nine children living in Zoggu, a community in the Northern region of Ghana. Four of Abibata’s children are exclusively dependent on her.

Abibata leads a 34-member shea butter processing group called "Kpangmanga - Zoggu." She is the person seated fourth in front from the right with the hand raised in the group photo.

Abibata and her group have been in shea butter processing business for more than a decade now. They all have been trained to be able to process premium quality shea nuts and butter by Grameen Ghana. They have requested a loan amount of GHS 13,200, which they will use to buy a larger volume of shea nuts for processing to meet an order by a local marketer. Abibata’s share of the loan is GHS 400.

Abibata and her group consider meeting the order as a great opportunity to earn more income to repay this loan and support their business and families. Abibata and her group, "Kpangmanga - Zoggu" are hopeful of Kiva lenders’ support.
