Maura's story

Maura L. is 47 years old and has lived in the Laure community, below the San Lorenzo municipality, for the past 46 years. Currently, she has two children in her care, one attending the schools of the town where they live.

Mrs. L. dedicates herself to the sale of snacks such as tacos, enchiladas, and tortillas with cheese in the mornings. In the afternoons, she sells various products such as cookies, soft drinks, gum, candies, etc. With these activities she has managed to support her family, and improve their standard of living little by little. However, she has now decided to expand her business through used clothing. This is the reason she needs the loan, so she can buy used clothing brought from the United States. She has realized a study that this clothing will sell very well, and she sees the possibility in opening this type of business in her community. To sell her snacks, she has to travel to soccer fields and individual homes, whereas she could run the clothing business out of her home and that way tend to her snack shop and care for her children simultaneously.
