A loan of $175 helped buy soft drinks, beer and candy.

Eugenia's story

Eugenia is married and uses the earnings from her business - which she has had for the past 10 years - to help her husband take care of household expenses. They have four children, two boys and two girls, who are all married and living on their own.
Eugenia has a small convenience store in her home where she sells a variety of goods such as groceries, candy and soft drinks. She also has a business selling salchipapas (a type of fast food that consists of thinly sliced hot dogs and french fries, mixed together).
In spite of the fact that she has had loans from EDAPROPSO for the past four years, she used to save her profits to make improvements to her home. Together with her husband they built their house from nothing, and at 53 years old her plans are to continue to improve her standard of living. In the future she would like to open a restaurant or maybe, since her daughter is a beautician, a beauty salon.
