A loan of $1,475 helped a member to ask for a loan to purchase rice seed to cultivate on the field to earn for living.

Mrs. Sambin Chhim Village Bank Group's story

The village bank, consisting of thirteen members, is located in Smeth village in Kampong Chhnang province. The members plan to use the loans they have obtained for different purposes. Mrs. Sambin C. is the village bank president, selected by the members. She is a farmer wH. owns a piece of land on which she cultivates rice. She does not have enough money to buy rice seeds to grow, S. she is requesting a loan to purchase rice seeds to cultivate on the field to earn her living. Mrs. Sambin C. is a 58-year-old widow with a child wH. works as a jeweler.

Six members in this group loans have end-of-term loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. They are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term (EoT) loans are AMK’s main product because they are the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. Such loans allows borrowers to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make their payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s client make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09% and AMK has a default rate of 0% on Kiva.
