Mrs. Pao Uk Village Bank Group's story

This village bank loan is for 16 people who all live in Krang Samroang village in Kampong Chhnang province. They will use the loan for various purposes. Mrs. Pao U., 43, is the village bank president. She and her husband, Mr. So Sreng, are farmers who own a piece of land where they cultivate vegetables. In this plantation, they have an obstacle because they do not have enough money for planting the field. Thus, Mrs. Pao U. decided to ask for a loan so they can grow vegetables to earn some income. She has five children, one of whom is a firewood seller while the others are enrolled in the local school.

Thirteen members in this group loans have end-of-term (EoT) loans and the rest have monthly payment loans. Those with EoT loans are not required to pay any principal on the loan until the very end of the loan term. End-of-term loans are AMK’s main product because they are the most beneficial to Cambodia’s poor. These loans allow borrowers to repay portions of the principal whenever they are financially able to. Most clients start to make payments many months before the end of the loan term. Almost all of AMK’s clients make their payments on time. AMK has a delinquency rate of only 0.09% and AMK has a default rate of 0% on Kiva.
