Petrona Maribel R. C. is from Patzarajmac, Totonicapan. She has been doing embroidery by hand since she was 12 years old, and now employees two assistants. She visited the offices of Kiva's partner ASDIR to request a loan to purchase wholesale materials and tools to prepare for the upcoming busy season. Holy Week is a busy time for her business since she makes her region's traditional women's clothing, and she already has orders to fulfill. Doing the embroidery requires much patience, and the affinity that Petrona has for her work has enabled her to prosper economically, which has supported the well-being of her family.
La Señor Petrona Maribel R. C. Es originaria de la comunidad de Patzarajmac Totonicapan, cuando tenia doce años aprendio hacer bordado manuales hoy sigue realizado dicha actividad, ya cuenta con dos operarias, ella visita las instalaciones de la oficina Asdir para solicitar un credito que lo utilizara para la compra de materiales por mayor y herramientas porque tiene un pedido del bordado para estas epocas de semana santa ya que la activida economica principal es para damas ya que es un traje tipico de la region, que necesita mucha paciencia al momento de realizar es carisma de su trabajo le ha permitido crecer economicamente para el bienestar de su familia.

ASDIR (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Rural - Association for the Development of Rural Communities) is a community-based organization that works to promote development in the villages and communities where it serves. It was founded in 1999 in the village of Nimasac, Totonicapán Department, by a handful of local men and women to support community projects and group loans. Today ASDIR has 5 offices across 3 departments (Totonicapán, Sololá and Suchitepéquez) serving more than 6,000 clients, most of them in rural communities.
