A loan of $775 helped install public telephones in her general store.

Horlinda's story

Horlinda is 55 years old and lives with her husband in the house that they inherited from her parents. Hard work and optimism, traits that she clearly displays, have helped her set up not only a general store, but also some grape farms in the city of Cañete—a city that is located to the north of the capital. She has been working alongside her husband because she manages the business that she set up there. Herlinda is showing pictures of her general store in Cañete. She is now setting up a business in Lima, where she must travel every two weeks, since sales are good during this summer season. For over 20 years, Horlinda has been in business, which has served as a way to provide an education for her children who are now professionals and are grateful for their mother’s efforts, so they try to cooperate with her. Nevertheless, she needs to increase her capital so that she can turn her general store into a family business that her children and grandchildren will inherit. This is her tenth loan with MFP since she is one of the women who have been working with the institute since it was founded in this part of the city. Horlinda needs 2500.00 PEN in order to install some public telephones in her general store so that she can increase her clientele.
