A loan helped to buy desks and chairs.

Mariluz's story

Faced with the need to help her spouse with the family expenses, and considering her knowledge of teaching, Mariluz decided to pursue her idea for a business from her own home.

Six years ago she began offering tutoring services in response to the need expressed by the parents of children in her neighborhood. Children needed educational support, help with homework or strengthening their knowledge. Parents were seeking a place where their children could improve academically and be during the hours that they work.

Currently Mariluz has great demand for her services, but she needs to buy desks and chairs with financial resources she obtains through her first Kiva loan, channeling through the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo.

She says her goal is to generate sufficient recourses to offer a good education to her three children, ages 15, 14 and 21. She hopes for them to make them into professionals in the future.
