Ernestina Lydia's story

Lydia is a member of the "03 de Mayo” Communal Bank, in the Porvenir-Miraflores neighborhood, district of Ilave, province of El Collao, in the Puno area. She is 47-years-old and in a common law marriage. She has 6 children and finished three years of secondary school studies. She has been working with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos for 6 months. She sells occasional products (pots, kitchen utensils, vegetables, bread, etc.). Her first loan was for 300 nuevos soles, with which she grew her capital and was able to acquire merchandise (pots and vegetables). With this loan of 1300 nuevos soles, she agrees that she will pay in 5 monthly payments. She will be able to increase her capital even more and invest in the purchase of kitchen accessories and fruits (watermelon, grapes and papayas). With the earnings, she hopes to help her children with their education and be able to build a house in the city of Puno for her children.
