A loan of $925 helped expand her merchandise.

Elva's story

Elva is 39 years old and has lived with her significant other for 14 years. They have two children together and currently live in their own home. She has been a seamstress for over 24 years, and it gives her a lot of satisfaction. There are times when it is very profitable, and she has lots of work, but to fill in for those times that are free, she decided to open a business selling soft drinks and sweets. Elva is an expert at mending and sewing clothing to meet her customers' needs, and she also enjoys talking with and tending to her customers. She feels that her economic situation has improved quite a bit in these last two years, and now she wants to turn the business into a store that is well-stocked in sweets. Selling sweets has a low investment and the advantage of every 6 cookies earning 1 free cookie. She sells them at a good price so they sell faster. From those sales she earns more money and has a higher profit. Elva is a very active member of her communal bank. In the season before last she was the secretary and was in charge of drawing up the agreements at each meeting. This is her 5th loan with MFP, and in all of these loans she has been responsible with her payments. She is requesting money to expand her candy store according to her wish to have it better stocked to attract more customers. Elva is very thankful for MFP and all of those who make this loan possible.
