Carmen

A loan of $300 helped purchase more goods ("chuno" dried potato, potato, barley, etc.) and increase her own capital. She is eager to become a wholesaler of the products she sells.

Carmen's story

Mrs. Carmen is a member of the “Ciudad Blanca” Community Bank in the town of Chijichalla, Ilave District of the Collao Province in the Puno Region. She is 51 years old and married with 5 children. She didn’t complete her primary education (first graD.).

She has worked with the Manuela Ramos Movement for 4 months. Her business is making dried potatoes called "chuño negro" or "tunta" from potatoes. She also buys and sells products from the area (“chuño negro” and “tunta” dried potatoes, barley, quinoa, etc.). Her first loan was for 500.00 nuevos soles that she used to buy goods from the area, those sold in Arequipa.

She promises to payback this loan of 900.00 nuevos soles in 3 monthly installments. She can increase her capital and buy more goods (more “chuño” dried potato, potato, barley, etc.). She is eager to become a wholesaler of the products she sells.

She is grateful to the Manuela Ramos Movement for their support.
