Sofía's story

Sofia belongs to the “Vecinas Unidas” (“Neighbors United”) cooperative bank located in the Callería district. She is 49 years old, has five children, and her husband works as an administrator in the education department. She has been a member of Manuela Ramos for eight years.

She used the first loan of 300.00 Peruvian soles that she received to buy 1 bucket of cooking oil, 1 sack of sugar, 2 bunches of bananas (to make her “chifles”, or fried banana snacks), and beverages to sell in a well-known educational center in the city of Pucallpa.

With this loan of 1,000.00 Peruvian soles, she bought 1 sack of palm fruit, 100 cocona fruits, 1 bag of sugar, bags for her snacks and lollipops, 5 kg. of canchita corn snacks, and 3 bundles of bananas.

She is very grateful to Manuela Ramos because it is an organization that supports all women who wish to get ahead and one day be successful.
