Marleny's story

Marleny E. D. G. is 50 years old and lives in the Trujillo district of La Libertad, Perú. She studied up to the 5th year of primary school, but did not continue as she was more inclined to work. She has five children, three of whom still depend on her financially.

She dedicates herself to selling prepared foods, having started her business selling vegetables at a market until she was asked to leave after 25 years there. She also sold small livestock, an activity she stopped after all her animals were stolen. With her earnings, she opted to dedicate herself instead to food sales. This business, which she runs out of her home, does proviD. her with an income.

With the first loan of 300.00 Peruvian soles that she received from her cooperative bank “Cielo II”, she invested in the purchase of young animals to sell. With this loan of 500.00 Peruvian soles, to be repaid in four months, she will invest in the purchase of ingredients for her business.
