A loan of $1,150 helped invest in her business selling corn and beans.

Maria Valeria's story

Maria Valeria is 54 years old and has 9 children, all of whom are adults and no longer live with her. For the past 15 years, she has sold corn and beans in her neighborhood market. She sells her product in both small and large quantities. Her husband helps her in her business. The days she is able to sell the most are Thursdays and Sundays, which are called "market days," and she takes advantage of these days. The other days of the week, she stays in her home and makes hand-woven fabrics. She needs a loan to invest in the purchase of corn and beans in large quantities in order to be able to sell at a better price. Her goal is to improve her business and her income so she doesn't have to depend on others for her livelihood.
