A loan of $475 helped purchase beer, beauty products, and ingredients for snow-cone sales; Jesus dreams of building a home and having her own store.

Jesús Angelita's story

Mrs. Jesus Angelita V. C. is 34 years old and lives in the Rinconada neighborhood in Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru.

She was able to complete her studies through elementary school but left them because she was more inclined to working and because she came to live in Trujillo. She has two children who are dependent on her.

Jesus works selling beer and beauty products; in the beginning she started her business selling bread and snow-cones during the summer. Later, with her income she began selling beauty products, small ring-cakes, caramel, and beer; she has developed the business out of her own home and it provides her with a good income.

With her first loan of $100 which she received from Mujeres Decididas II (Decisive Women II) village bank, she invested in the purchase of cheeses, ring-cakes and caramel.

With this $475 loan which she will repay in 4 months, she will invest in the purchase of beer, beauty products and ingredients for the sale of snow-cones.

Jesus dreams of building a home and having a small store.
