A loan of $5,575 helped a member to buy school materials at wholesale.

Chavelas Group's story

The communal bank “Chavelas” will begin its fifth loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Collpani. It is made up of eight members, and it is led by a board of directors, of which Albertina is the President. The business that the members of the communal bank carry out are varied, including a book store, CD sales, bread sales, food sales, a corner store, blanket sales, and clothing sales.

The loan they will take out will benefit the small microenterprises of which Albertina is a member. She says that several years ago she joined Pro Mujer because of the invitation from a friend who is a client of the institution. At present, she has a book store business, and she says that she learned this business on her own initiative several years ago.

The loan she is taking out now is to increase her capital and buy school materials at wholesale, which she will acquire from the wholesale vendors in the city of El Alto. Then, she will sell the materials in her sales space. This form of working allows her to generate resources to economically support her family, since she is single and has a son.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the health area and the training the institution offers.

In this group: Albertina Salome, Angelica Sabina, Ana, Virginia Luisa, Reyna Karina, Justina, Juana Lidia, Delfina
